Alvaro Garcia M.D. F.A.C.S. was born in Bogota, Colombia on April 1st of 1973. He attended medical school at the Universidad Central of Venezuela, in the capital city of Caracas. He graduated as an MD Summa Cum Laude. After he graduated from medical school, he decided to further his education in the United States.
He started his own private practice in Pembroke Pines Florida in 2009. Following his training at Yale and Georgetown and several fellowships, he started the Robotic Program in Colorectal Surgery at the Robotic Institute of South Florida at Memorial Hospital Pembroke, and has recently been featured in the local news.
Dr. Garcia’s expertise in complex hernia repair has allowed him to become an investigator in a clinical trial for ventral hernia repair. His functional and cosmetic results in reshaping the abdomen are exceptional. Dr. Garcia prides himself on the open line of communication he has with his patients. His primary concern is the patient’s well being and he is always willing to answer questions and put patients mind at ease.
The field of abdominal wall reconstruction sparked his deep interest in body contouring and liposculpture, and prompted him to complete a fellowship in tumescent liposuction. Dr. Garcia has incorporated his vast knowledge of the abdominal wall and masterful sense of aesthetic precision and sound clinical judgment to launch a cosmetic surgery practice at Belleza Pura Liposuction. He has incorporated his extraordinary skills and unique experience in abdominal wall reconstruction, liposculpturing and tumescent technique and has teamed up with Dr. Castillo –Plaza to perform “tummy tucks” under local anesthesia, offering all the advantages of local anesthesia to the patients as well as precise and unsurpassable aesthetic results.
